Given the Ford government’s ongoing failure to prioritize publicly funded education, Fix Our Schools wanted to share another way you can get involved to stand up for publicly funded education!
Toronto Education Advocacy Network (TEAN) is a network of collective voices made up of parents, students, educators & community groups that believe in a well-funded, equitable and inclusive, well-supported, publicly funded education system for all students in Ontario.
TEAN’s objective is to inform, support and mobilize community advocates to engage in key issues in support of publicly funded education. They are a collaborative network working together to make noise and fight for public education in this province. Their network mostly exists in a WhatsApp chat and a googledoc where we share information, resources, collaborate and otherwise support one another as they advocate for publicly funded education in their communities. You can contact them at forpublicschools@gmail.com for any questions or comments and to gain access to their WhatsApp chat.
They facilitate regularly letter writing, phone calls (FoneFordFriday), petition signing, information sharing and building knowledge and capacity at the hyperlocal level. Here are just some of the resources that TEAN has built to facilitate advocacy for publicly funded education: https://linktr.ee/forpublicschools
